Another Building Flames In Onitsha

A residential building at No.13 Bida road by moore Street, Onitsha went into flames today at about 9:30 am. 

The situation was was brought under control by the Police and other Sister agencies to prevent looters from taking advantage to loot.

Confirming incident, SP Haruna Mohammed, PPRO Anambra State Police Command in a release stated that the fire was put off by fire fighters. No loss of live and no casualty sustained.

Preliminary, investigation revealed that the cause of fire was as a result of power surge.The Commissioner of Police CP John B. Abang,fdc has ordered for a discreet investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident, please.

Anambra has witnessed several cases of fire incident. recently, a building located at No 23 Emmanuel Church road, Inland town Onitsha, Anambra state today February 2nd 2020 gutted by fire. The outbreak affecting two rooms of a storey building.

As a result, A total of seven(7) persons namely: Nonso Okafor, Nkechi Chinyere Okafor, Chisoba Okafor, Ebuka Okafor, Nwabuchi Chukwutor, Chialuka Nwabuchi  and Ifeoma Nwabuchi sustained varying degrees of injuries while properties worth millions of Naira destroyed.

There was another fire incident at INEC office Ogidi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State, making concerned citizens to wonder why the constant incidence.

It will be recalled that three siblings were burnt to death in a fire incident in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.

The deceased, two boys and a girl between the ages of two months to five years, were reportedly fast asleep when their apartment was engulfed in the inferno.

Properties worth millions were consumed in the fire which was put off by neighbors before the arrival of fire fighters.

Weeks back, three children narrowly escaped death when fire razed a 4-bedroom apartment in Ebe, Umuokpu Awka in Awka South local government area of Anambra state.

The kids, who were fast asleep when the incident occurred, were reportedly rescued by a 17-year old girl, Chinenye Igwedimma, said to be a cousin to the family.

The building located at No. 1 Ezingwu Street belonging to the family of staff of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, Awka, Blessing Uchendu, reportedly went up in flames while the occupants were away.

It was gathered that property worth millions of naira, including academic certificates, were completely razed by the fire which engulfed the entire building.
